Love Poison (Thai Series)

Here we go. Another Thai BL drama, although compared to some of the other ones, this one is more simple. This is about the journey of love and doing what it takes to win your love. I may not agree to all the methods but surely is believable. For the change of pace, this series is set in a very small fishing town and not in the big city, so it gives a different overall feel.

Ko is a singer and soon becomes quite popular online, including Teng, on whom he has had a crush on forever. But Teng is not interested in him romantically, so he goes out with his friends in search of the "Love poison" that could make Teng fall in love with him. We also have Ko's brother Sek, who is seeing this girl, but her ex-boyfriend Tak warns him that she is no good. The reality is that Tak likes Sek and wants to prove him that he is much better for him. Tak is friends with Ko and the only person whom Ko confides in. Teng eventually drinks the love poison but that does nothing. In fact, he starts dating a girl soon and it soon breaks Ko's heart. Meanwhile Sek finds himself attracted to all mischiefs that Tak does but still not attracted to him. When Teng break's Ko's heart , the two pretend to be in a relationship with each other. This eventually works out because Teng soon realizes his true feelings for Ko and even Sek finds true love in Tak when he sees the true color of his girlfriend.

Like most BL series, you are not allowed to put too much brain into the proceedings. Just simply watch and enjoy. This one specifically is a very simple production, in a rural area of Thailand, not fancy at all. The actors were all actually quite good, not great but alright and thankfully they had some good chemistry. It didn't seem forced at all. Although I am not sure, was alcohol necessary to show the 2 sex scenes that couple has. It sort of gives a wrong impression that they don't truly love but its all under the influence of alcohol. There was a song in pretty much every episode and alos all the side actors, like friends of all main characters were funny. It was quite endearing to see Ko and Sek's father being accepting of his sons the way they are and how, he would always invite their friends for dinner. This whole inviting guest Asian culture is something that I relate to very much. On a negative note, It is never clear whether Teng eventually fell in love with Ko because of the serum or was he really in love? Again, the whole concept of making someone fall for you using witchcraft is a bit silly. Also not all the humor was funny, but then, by now, you expect that in most BL series.

Thankfully this was only 8 episodes of about 30ish minutes each , so a smaller series compared to some other shows and an easy breezy watch. This is a simple love story of 2 couple and what they would do to win their love. Nothing earth shattering but not bad either. (5.5/10)

Very average. The beginning was horrible, then it gets better but with too many nonsense. Mainly Teng turning Ko down, only to sleep with him 5min latter without any explanation. What’s worse, they used the drunken state to « justify » the sex, but Ko was the one drunk, not Teng! Isn’t it supposed to be the other way if you wanted to have an excuse ??! I hated the stupid « virgin girls trio » who only added stupid non necessary scenes, and the way-too-long songs (songs were nice but sing them for 1min, not 5min in every episode…). All was not bad though. The scenery in rural Thailand is beautiful. The actors are good looking too (even if some of them can’t play…) and have nice chemistry.

That the thing.. The actors are not the most smart but they are handsome and look good, so you feel you wanna give them discount on the fact that they can't act.
It was a welcome change to see setting in rural areas than the typical college and universities that most shows come up with

Talking about beautiful rural area, can I warmly recommend you watch "a tale of thousand stars". It s one of the most praised bl at the moment and one of the 2 that had me lose it (the other one being until we meet again)

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin

One Summer Night (Korean)

I really wanted to like this film but for non native speakers, these movie leaves a lot to be understood and the way scenes were unfolding in front of me, I wasn't sure many times what was really going on. The story had potential button getting any back story on any of the characters limited my ability to empathize with any of these actors. Film starts with two North Korea military guys Yong Joon and Jae Sung having sex and they are caught red handed and they run. Three years later we see Yong Joon in Seoul leading a very mundane and poor life. He has a boyfriend Tae-Kyu, who is a weird guy. He is carefree, doesn't do any work and is completely emotional and financially dependent on Young Joon. In fact, even Yong Joon will go to any lengths to protect him , fend for him and taking care of him to the extent of even taking up prostitution. Suddenly one day Jae Sung appears in their life again. His motivation is not clear but it is obvious he wants Yong Joon back in his life, who

Ultimate masturbation: Shigoki no yama (Japanese) [The Ultimate Masturbation]

I would never know what was the point behind making this film. Was it supposed to be a comedy, cos it wasn't. It wasn't even porn. It was just a silly attempt at making something absolutely senseless and ridiculous. The story, as well as direction is equally shoddy. You could laugh for having seen something so bad, but I wouldn't call that comedy. An old man runs a camp about gay masturbation. The explanation given is that gays masturbate for pleasure unlike straight men, for whom the act is seen as shame or because they can't find a woman. One day a straight man shows up and wants to join the camp for his thesis. After discussion, he is allowed in. Rules include that you can masturbate together, you can masturbate one another, but there is no fellatio or anal sex. Some students of course breaks rule. The teacher then talks about 2 forms of masturbation which gives ultimate pleasure. He shows one without touching and then refuses to talk of the other. Somehow suddenly,
