Mine Vaganti (Italian) [Loose Cannon]

I wish I had started my new year with this gay film rather than the one I started with but better late than never. This was such a fantastic film. Though it still still does not reach to the level of 2 of my most favourite gay films but it is up there in terms on content, acting, direction and emotions that strikes a chord with audience. This is brilliant and the fact that it is a good mix of comedy and emotions as well make it a worth while experience.

Vincenzo owns a pasta making business. He is soon doing collaboration with a new partner and wants his sons Antonio and Tommaso to take over. Tomasso tells his brother that he cannot do this because he is gay and wants to become a writer. He alo tells him that he will tell everyone at dinner, so that his father gets angry and throws him out. But tables turn when at dinner, Antonio ruins Tomasso's plans and comes out to his family. As expected, the father gets angry and asks him to leave the house. The second son refrains from same announcement, fearing that his father won't survive a double "disaster". He tries to take up his role as second-in-line son to become the future company owner. But his heart is with being a writer, and not in leading a pasta factory. The father does not see this because all he keeps worrying about is what people would say. The grandmother is th eonly person who knows what's going on and keeps motivating Tomasso to do what he really wants to do. She knew about Antonio and also knows about Tomasso. Tomasso starts hanging out with Alba, their partner's daughter who has her own issues with life. Missing Tomasso, his boyfriend and friends come to visit him which creates an alltogether funny situation. Tomasso finds courage to tell everyone that he wants to become a writer and is not interested in family business. At the end, when the grandmother dies, Vincenzo and Antonio start coming together and hopefully bridge the gap between them.

The ending was so surreal and beautiful when grandma's funeral is pseudo combined with old days when she got married. Its beautiful and you will see it when you watch the film. All the characters are beautiful, stylish and middle class, living well and only through the aunt do we see any imperfections, which seem to be done for laughs. It is a wonderful tale of hope, friendship, love and family. Friendship between Alba and Tomasso is so tender and sweet. I loved all he times when Alba feels attracted to Tomasso but cannot do anything knowing he is gay and Tomasso just smiles. I just loved it. The whole scene where Tomasso's friends come to meet him creates very funny interactions between the family. I am not too sure as to why the movie has been titled 'Loose Cannon' in English and it's the grandmother who is referred to as that. The acting was brilliant, Tomasso was handsome and gorgeous with very very expressive eyes and I also loved the family interaction.

Strongly strongly recommend this film. Beautiful !! (8.5/10)

I watched the movie and I loved it! I'm glad I stumbled upon your blog and read about it before I decided to watch it. It's really a great movie that isn't just about gay themes but also about life lessons that we all can live by. The characters are diverse, the soundtrack is nice and the storyline is simple but sweet at best. Love the mix of comedy and drama.

Okay, I desperately need answer for this question: In "Mine Vaganti" what was going on between tomasso and alba? I mean, why was he looking at his boyfriend and alba together and smiling in the end? does it mean he is bisexual now? Or does it mean that he is gay but loves Alba emotionally? BTW, Ilaria Occhini's performance was so amazing! I literallty cried when she died:-(

I am glad that u liked the film. He is smiling because he is emotionally connected to both people and in his own way is in love to each one of them.

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin

One Summer Night (Korean)

I really wanted to like this film but for non native speakers, these movie leaves a lot to be understood and the way scenes were unfolding in front of me, I wasn't sure many times what was really going on. The story had potential button getting any back story on any of the characters limited my ability to empathize with any of these actors. Film starts with two North Korea military guys Yong Joon and Jae Sung having sex and they are caught red handed and they run. Three years later we see Yong Joon in Seoul leading a very mundane and poor life. He has a boyfriend Tae-Kyu, who is a weird guy. He is carefree, doesn't do any work and is completely emotional and financially dependent on Young Joon. In fact, even Yong Joon will go to any lengths to protect him , fend for him and taking care of him to the extent of even taking up prostitution. Suddenly one day Jae Sung appears in their life again. His motivation is not clear but it is obvious he wants Yong Joon back in his life, who

Ultimate masturbation: Shigoki no yama (Japanese) [The Ultimate Masturbation]

I would never know what was the point behind making this film. Was it supposed to be a comedy, cos it wasn't. It wasn't even porn. It was just a silly attempt at making something absolutely senseless and ridiculous. The story, as well as direction is equally shoddy. You could laugh for having seen something so bad, but I wouldn't call that comedy. An old man runs a camp about gay masturbation. The explanation given is that gays masturbate for pleasure unlike straight men, for whom the act is seen as shame or because they can't find a woman. One day a straight man shows up and wants to join the camp for his thesis. After discussion, he is allowed in. Rules include that you can masturbate together, you can masturbate one another, but there is no fellatio or anal sex. Some students of course breaks rule. The teacher then talks about 2 forms of masturbation which gives ultimate pleasure. He shows one without touching and then refuses to talk of the other. Somehow suddenly,
